December 8th: Sculpts and Materials.

These last couple of weeks I started to sculpt for the first time. It is a really cool process but I am still struggling with it. Aside from sculpting and material creation, I did a mini-game jam with my brother which we never finished but I did some neat art. Additionally, I learned the retopology workflow in blender and substance painter which is both useful and relaxing. This week was mostly focused on learning Zbrush basics, so more sculpts are to come.

This painted steel material was made in Substance Designer. It is entirely Procedural and the amount of paint and rust can be controlled in engine. this wasn't a super complex material, but it was some of my first work in Designer.

This brick texture was a very fun project. The vertical stripes on the bricks were particularly neat, as I did them without help from a tutorial.

This dragon head sculpt was made with the blender sculpting toolset. It was my first proper foray into 3D sculpting, So I am particularly happy with how it came out.

This was one of my first practice sculpts in Zbrush. It's a challenging program and process to learn but for 45 minutes of work this came out pretty well.

This is another practice sculpt. I'm still working on getting eyes to look right.
